Despite the weather two new creatures have appeared on The King’s Land, swimming up and plonking themselves on the wall, peeping in the window… We had a day of sun, and this is what happened:
They are on Whiston Road.
It’s raining again, needless to say.
On the sunny weekend, I started a new direction: adding colour to the murals. Here is the team after completing the first one.

Below: On Saturday evening as I was in the studio the local Asbos (Antisocial juvenile delinquents) came and ripped the right side of the mural. On Sunday I repaired it so here you can see both versions.
And the big whale is finally on the wall, after swimming around the studio for too long:

The weather’s still vile but the work is all ready to rock out, and so as soon as we get the go ahead from the Weatherman we’ll get a full enhanced crew out there to blast the site with the biggest most astonishing creatures your deepest depths of imagination never conjured up!

The weather has been really awful for April! Very cold, which makes it hard to be mobile when dong the fine work, and occasional very heavy showers that come and undo your work soon as you’re happy with it.
Still, we’re going strong. This wall on Laburnum Street was completed yesterday:
I love inventing these Creatures to populate the King’s Land.
these little guys are just running around the estate all over the place.
Today I arrived at the studio and I found a note that had been slipped in the door before I got there. It’s not from any one I know, and this note moved me very much and made me remember – despite the rain and cold, the vandals, the expense, and the sheer hard work – exactly WHY I am doing this crazy mural project.

For those of you out there who don’t know, Oxfordshire is not anywhere near East London and I really appreciate the effort to come and see the work, and to write me a note of appreciation.
Over the weekend when I was working in the studio I noticed something remarkable. A posse of little schoolgirls arrived in the afternoon with their small suitcases, planted themselves near the murals and proceeded to do makeovers on each other and then photoshoot in front of the murals! I didn’t take any photos of them as that would have been intrusive and embarrassed them, but it was really great and made me feel that I’m really doing the right thing by making this art here, for everybody, in this otherwise void and derelict space.
I’ve picked the wall I want to use as the site for the 4th mural, and I’ve done the drawings.
It’s sunny and I’m ready to go!
